Getting ready to dehydrate some Granny Smith for my big hiking trip next weekend. I should have bought the small ones (they fit in the trays better). Oh well. I’ve been trying to keep dehydrated fruit on hand. I have a hard time eating apple peels in their natural state. I like the dried variety much better.
Thank God the trip leaders changed their minds on the mileage. They were planning a 37-mile trek over two days. In the summertime that is one thing, but with scant daylight, huge elevation changes, and plummeting temps, 20 mile days are a recipe for disaster. They pared it down to 13 mile days (26 miles total) with a 5 lb. food drop. Ahhhhhhhhh, much better!
What do they think this is anyway? Some sort of race? Silly competitive people.
